The Candy Store

The sweetest landmark on the 74.

A candy store on this mountain since 1965 — and the front door of Ortega Oaks. If you can find the Candy Store, you’ve found us.

Worth the drive alone

Everyone’s a kid in the Candy Store

Hikers, bikers and Sunday drivers have been pulling over here for generations. Inside the little cottage at our entrance you’ll find handmade fudge and pies, handmade sandwiches, root beer floats, hot coffee and shelves of nostalgic candies — Chuckles, Mary Jane’s and the ones you forgot you loved.

  • Handmade fudge & pies
  • Sandwiches, root beer floats & coffee
  • Nostalgic candies by the jarful
  • Gluten-free, sugar-free & vegan treats
  • Snacks, cold drinks & last-minute camp necessities

Gateway to the wilderness

The Candy Store doubles as the park office — and the unofficial ranger station of the neighborhood. US Forest Service recreation info is on hand, and we sell the Adventure Passes you need to park at the trailheads. Grab a pass, pack some fudge, walk to the trail.

  • Forest Adventure Passes sold here
  • US Forest Service outdoor-recreation information
  • Picnic area to relax after a long hike
  • A short walk from every campsite
Since 1965

“Speaking of candy — the Candy Store here is loaded with treats and sweets.”
